Early followers of Jesus had to have had a way to communicate and graffiti (interesting related article - The Earliest Christian Graffito?) was common in that day and age; here we see the secretive sign (symbolic acronym) used for Jesus Christ; which today is not only the origins of the modern Christian fish symbol, but we see how this circle symbol is perhaps used all around us in many ways; from St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, to the Dharma wheel of Buddha to church windows and even the e8 image or theory of everything...
