| Chartres, France We left on Monday morning at 3:30 am. Made it just in time for morning rush hour in Paris (Jeff did a great job of driving through Paris). And by 10:30 we were came upon Chartres, France a small city or medieval town hosting the worlds most complete and still operation Gothic era cathedral. Driving up to the city there are fields all around on gently rolling hills, when all of a sudden you see this massive structure, as it appears in the middle of nowhere up-ahead, which made me shake my head twice- could this be a mirage? No, it was Chartres Cathedral, visible from miles outside of the town. For the rest, it was a charming stay and before we knew it, we were on the road again, heading back via Rouen and then along the Atlantic ocean towards Belgium and finally home in Holland, all within a little more than a day and a half! by Jeff, Linda, David and Bianca 20 and 21 March 2006 pijnacker@mac.com |
